A virus or malware can adversely effect your computer with unwanted pop up ads, redirecting you to
unwanted web sites and hogging memory resources. In most cases a virus, trojan, worm and malware can be 
removed and your system restored while preserving your existing files. This is not always the case and sometimes
only a complete reinstall of the operating system will get you back to a usable computer. In most cases, but not
always, your pictures, music and documents can be backed up and restored and then all of the programs that you
are accustomed to using will also need to be reinstalled. This is a pretty major event so frequent backups,
keeping your virus protection up to date and computer updates are your best defense in preventing infection.
Clutter can also cause a loss in system performance. It is important to run a cleaning program that will remove
tracking and data mining cookies, log files, temporary files and backup files to restore space on your hard drive.
